Uploading a csv file or setting up an integration to load your portfolio into factorE

factorE allows users to import portfolios from Excel/CSV files and view them inside the tool.

Importing portfolios in factorE can make your life easier by speeding up the portfolio creation process.

We’ll walk through the portfolio import process and hopefully uncover most of the questions that might pop up during it!

First, click “Create Portfolio”

In this example, we are going to be importing a CSV file.

The import process has three steps:

  1. Select Portfolio
  2. Reconcile
  3. Save

1. Select Portfolio

Once you put in a name for the portfolio, go ahead and drag and drop the file in, or click “Choose File” and find where your csv is located.

You must save your Excel file as “csv” to import it into the tool.

CSV Format Requirements

  • The first row of the CSV file must be a header row that defines the contents of each column of the data.
  • There must be columns for “account name”, “ticker” and either “value” or “weight” at a minimum.

Scroll down to the bottom and click “Import”

2. Reconcile

Once the portfolio is imported, there may be securities that are unrecognized by our platform. In that case, you will want to create a proxy.

Custom assets in your spreadsheet/csv file…

… are easily converted into proxied assets inside factorE!

Once you have handled all proxied assets, make sure you have a portfolio name and description…

3… click save, and… You’re done!

From here, you can:

  • Adjust the portfolio
  • Run factor analysis
